Environmental benefitsOur global climate is in a crisis. We are aware, therefore, of what is demanded of us. In those countries with a strong wind potential, there is a possibility of supplying up to 50% of a given country’s power consumption through wind parks. The technology that is already in place makes it possible for us to integrate and balance this impressive ratio of fluctuating electrical power from wind parks on the power grid, provided they are placed in the right interplay with other, among these renewable, energy technologies. Today, it is possible to meet 100% of our societies’ energy needs through renewable energy. Across the globe, research is in progress for the development of renewable energy technologies that can compete economically with fossil power plants. Wind power is a market-ready, highly developed renewable energy technology that can compete with fossil fuels. The energy consumption necessary for the production of a wind turbine is covered within a couple of months by the power generated by the turbine itself . Even though a wind turbine is an encroachment on the local environment, it is nevertheless the most environmentally protective electricity generator we know today. The wind turbine is protective of the environment because it will only take a day to dismantle it on the day a better alternative arrives. The only condition that has to be improved following the dismantling of wind turbines on land is the restoration of the plots of earth that have been used for gravelled access roads to the turbines and to ensure a sustainable waste management of the dismantled turbine. Wind turbines are therefore one of the best methods of covering our energy consumption and should simply be erected on a massive scale across the planet while we wait for the maturation of new renewable energy technologies. In the short run, therefore, Wind People will strive for the large-scale implementation of wind parks around the world. We must take the consequences of our present lifestyle: If we do not wish to live in balance with nature, then we should at the very least set up wind turbines, whether we like them or not. The economic benefits of Wind People’s projects in developed countries shall not necessaryly be used to help children in impoverished conditions. Instead, the benefits shall be used to activate dynamic processes that will facilitate the shift of energy sources to renewable energy in these countries. Thus, Wind People wishes use the economic benefits to promote the use of renewable energy and energy conservation. In addition, Wind People wishes to join in the effort to integrate wind turbines into our collective grid, in order to obtain the full yield from a fluctuating production of power around the clock, in Summer or Winter. |
